Istanbul ( historically Byzantium and Constantinople) is a grand mosaic of East and West, the only city in the world built on two continents. It offers Roman aqueducts, Byzantine churches, monuments, museums, great mosques lifting their minarets to the sky, spice bazaars and pleasant street walks full of surprises. The main district of what was once Constantinople is now called Sultan Ahmet. Do not miss magnificent Hagia Sophia, built by Justinian in the 6th century, ethereal Blue Mosque, decorated with thousands of brilliant blue Iznik tiles and Topkapi Palace, residence of the Ottoman Sultans.
