Frankenjura photos

Frankenjura, Germany, a limestone rock climbing region, has a reputation for having some of the best crags and a number of the hardest climbs in Europe (as Action direct, 9a, Güllich). It is one of the largest sport climbing areas of Europe with more than 7000 routes and countless boulders on approximately 1000 crags. It is considered to be a climbing area with tradition. At times of technical climbing Frankenjura was used as a training area for more ambitious alpine climbs and became the birthplace of the ethics of redpoint ("Rotpunkt") in Europe. Beside usually perfectly secured opened routes you will also find some alpine multi length routes from the beginning of climbing at the end of the 19th century. Many classical sport climbs of the 70's and 80's are well-known.
